Ian McShane stars as Peter Curtis, who has just been released from prison after serving four years for manslaughter. His victim's mysterious last words lead him on a frantic quest for answers in the tidal estuaries of the West of England, where he finds himself on a collision course with other parties who are as eager to solve the mystery as he is, and are seemingly even prepared to kill to find the answer.

A young woman in love finds herself immersed in a state of confusion that leads her to feel suddenly alone.

As the local lobster supply dwindles due to overfishing, the island's inhabitants encounter economic difficulties.

In the late sixties I picked up my seldom used Arri 35mm camera and set off for the famous tidal flats of Nova Scotia. This fragment is of an elderly farmer who fished a weir using his horse and carriage to go out to it with the ebbing time and home with the incoming tide. I thought I saw a nice structure for a film that even included the element of chase, that old standby of film narrative. Would the carriage get home before being engulfed by the incoming tide, would the fog appear and obscure all points of reference?

Robert is brought to an isolated island by a fisherman. The next morning his sea bag is gone. Isn't he alone on the island?

After a young woman, Lana, witnesses the gruesome murder of her lover, her close friend allows her to stay the night at his place with a mutual friend. The story is told simultaneously with the story of Lana's time spent with her long-lost brother, Martin.
